This year the AGM Theme is “Moving Forward Together – Optimisons Nos Forces.” reflects our commitment to collaboration, strength, and progress as we look to the future. In addition to the usual business of the annual general meeting (business session, policy session, etc ) there will also be an awards ceremony, entertainment, renowned speakers during the conference day, and the great opportunity to network with CFUW members and executive from across Canada.

Ella Walsh is a PhD student at the University of Toronto, winner of the 2025-2026 CFUW Memorial Fellowship. Walsh’s research focuses on improving mechanical design of continuum robots for practical applications such as in minimally invasive surgery. She is passionate about engineering outreach and education, as well as research translation and commercialization from benchtop to application.

Julie S. Lalonde, an internationally recognized public educator and women’s rights advocate. A franco-ontarienne originally from Northern Ontario, she is based in Ottawa. Julie has over 20 years of experience working with various organizations dedicated to ending gender-based violence, engaging bystanders and building communities of support. She has presented her work in seven countries across four continents in two languages. In 2023, Julie launched the Canadian Anti-Stalking Association (CASA), the only organization in Canada dedicated to addressing criminal harassment. She has won numerous awards for her work including the Governor General’s Award in Commemoration of the Persons Case. Her bestselling memoir Resilience is Futile: The Life and Death and Life of Julie S. Lalonde won the 2020 Ontario Speaker’s Award and was named one of the best books of the year by CBC Books and The Hill Times.
Carla Fehr brings 25 years of professional and scholarly experience to her work on gender, race, and STEM, with an extensive record of peer‑reviewed publications across multiple academic disciplines and long‑standing contributions to university teaching in social justice, entrepreneurship, and equity in science and technology. She has provided mentorship to researchers in fields ranging from health and molecular biology to computer science and engineering, and advised more than twenty organizations on strategies to enhance equity and workplace culture. Fehr holds a Ph.D. from Duke University and serves as Professor and Wolfe Chair in Scientific and Technological Literacy at the University of Waterloo.
Na’kuset is the Executive Director of the Native Women's Shelter of Montréal, is Cree from Lac la Ronge, Saskatchewan. 60’s Scoop Survivor, mother, author, advocate for Indigenous women and children. She has received many distinctions during her career including: “Woman of the Year 2014” by the Montreal Council of Women; The Paul-Gérin-Lajoie Award for Diversity; the Woman of Distinction award by the Women’s Y Foundation. In September 2023, she was inducted into the Côte Saint-Luc Human Rights Walkway because of her steadfast commitment to humankind. She was also invited to present at TEDxMontrealWomen. Additionally, she spearheaded and currently oversees the Cabot Square project and is a co-founder of Resilience Montreal (2019) which serves the unhoused population in Montreal. Na’kuset initiated a second-stage housing project known as Miyoskamin. It features a social pediatric centre called Saralikitaaq (in collaboration with the Dr. Julien Foundation). She has partnered with Amnestie Internationale to host a PPT (Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal) on Missing Indigenous Children and Unmarked Graves to be held in Montreal in May 2026. She was featured in a CBC short documentary Becoming Nakuset produced by Daniel Roher on her life as an adoptee. She recently co-authored an autobiographical children’s book titled I Am My Name. Na’kuset is dedicated to improving the lives of urban Indigenous people and challenging oppressive systemic barriers.
