In 1971, CFUW Edmonton established a needs-based bursary program for female students attending the University of Alberta.
The CFUW Edmonton Bursary Committee annually awards bursaries, including the Elsie Mitchell Newland, Frances McConnell, Margaret Brine, and Jean MacIntyre named bursaries, to University of Alberta women. Click here to read about these Named Bursaries.
In early September the application is posted and completed applications are due in October. In October and early November CFUW Edmonton members read applications, interview female students from the University of Alberta, and award approximately $25,000 to multiple applicants.
The Canadian Federation of University Women Edmonton was founded in 1909 and is affiliated with more than 8,000 members in over 100 clubs across Canada. The organization is committed to the pursuit and promotion of education for women. In support of these goals, CFUW Edmonton offers bursaries to female full-time University of Alberta students.
