CFUW Edmonton was founded in 1909 and is a non-partisan, voluntary, self-funded organization. Our membership is a community of women that have long history of successful efforts to improve the status of women at the local, provincial, national, and international levels and a commitment to continue those efforts today and into the future. Members are active in public affairs, work together for equality for women and girls, to raise the social, economic, political and legal status of women, as well as to improve education, the environment, peace, justice and human rights.

Meetings
We have monthly meetings (Sept-May), which include social gatherings and speakers giving talks on educational, political, social and cultural issues.
Interest Groups
Our Interest Groups span a wide range of topics from literature, art, health, the environment, film, bridge, and cuisine.
Advocacy
Advocacy includes local, regional, national, and international issues.
Academic Awards
Our Academic Awards Fund supports female graduate students through scholarships and bursaries.

CFUW Edmonton gathers on Treaty 6 territory and the traditional meeting ground for many Indigenous peoples. The territory provided a travelling route and home to the Cree, Blackfoot, and Métis, as it did for the Nakoda, Tsuu T’ina, Chipewyan, and other Indigenous peoples. Their relationships to the land create a rich heritage for our learning and our life as a community, and their histories, languages, and cultures continue to influence our vibrant community.
